Walking in Our Colors

By providing a “window” into my family’s experiences, my book allows readers to broaden their understanding of autism and, in doing so, reflect on their own unconscious biases. This creates an opportunity for them to move past the surface-level behaviors and see the full, complex person within. It describes the isolation and exhaustion of navigating a world that isn’t built for my family, while also managing the pain of having my children’s struggles misinterpreted and devalued.
